When Millennials entered the workplace there was a sense of excitement as organizations began preparing to attract, engage, and retain this new, tech savvy, boundary-breaking, outside-the-box generation. There was so much to look forward to– fresh ideas, new marketing strategies, increased use of technology, and new rules of engagement. It wasn’t long before tension grew between Millennials and other generations. What happened? Millennials clashed with the values and work ethics of Boomers, Gen Xers, and Traditionalists as they began to see Millennials as lazy and entitled. Whether you share these views or are amongst those that believe Millennials are bold and purposeful, it is evident that Millennials have drastically impacted our culture and the way we do business.
Now, whether we are ready or not, Generation Z is entering the workplace and they come with a different set of rules. If you’re like me, you’ve noticed, an unsettling shift in values and focus from one generation to the next and have wondered where our country is headed and into whose hands we are placing it. Are we in good hands when we look at our upcoming generations?
Meet Generation Z, a generation with financial focus, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to connect and engage in human interaction. WOAH! We didn’t see that coming!! This is phenomenal news that I am excited about diving in and sharing.
